After over 20 years at Xerox Corporation my software engineering career has come to a close. I have been promoted to full time pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Fair Haven. The Lord made it clear to Lori and me late last year that my family and church needed more of my time and energy. Providentially, my plans and desires to be at Calvary Baptist full time corresponded with a reduction in force at Xerox that transpired today. God tells us that if we will delight in Him, that He will give us the desires of our heart (Ps 37:4). It is however, with a heavy heart that I leave my coworkers, and am deeply saddened by the turmoil that today will bring to them. It has been a privilege to work with such talented people over the years. Even more than our professional relationship it is an even greater privilege to call them friends. I’m sorry that I couldn’t tell each of you goodbye, but circumstances did not permit. I hope that if any of you are in Fair Haven that you will stop in and say hello. I would also remind each of you that there are far more important things than work, and more precious things than money. Nothing buys happiness, peace and life, except faith in Jesus Christ (Matt 16:24-26; Ephesians 2;8,9, John 3:16). I pray for God’s grace in each of your lives and families. I wish you each my best, and bid you a very fond farewell.
